Collagraph Printmaking - Basic course 1 & 2
Collagraph Printmaking
Basic course 1 & 2
Next dates:
Basic Course 1
This workshop will help students to familiarise with the fundamentals of Collagraph printmaking, getting basic skills to make their own Collagraphs at home.
Literally Collagraph means "colla" and "to write". Students will learn to build a printing matrix with cardboard / wood using various surfaces, such as fabric, leaves, sand, found objects and others .
In the basic course 1, we will be doing monochrome prints and we will cover different plate making techniques such as building up the plate - in a collage-like process, drilling and incising.
In the basic course 2, students will explore the use of gesso for drawing and creating textures. As a result, the matrix can be printed as relief and intaglio.
The prints will be pulled manually, signed and numbered after the end of the process. Students will bring home their prints on paper and their matrix after the workshop.
